WOMEN’S DAY

INTERNATIONAL WOMEN’S DAY

International Women’s Day (IWD) is a major day of global celebration for the economic, political and social achievements of women past, present and future.

Acknowledging the contributions of local women is essential to realise true equality and respect in our homes, our workplaces

The challenge for this year is to make the women of past proud, the women of current inspired, and the women of the future envisioned.

This year, the theme for International Women’s Day (8 March), “Women in leadership: Achieving an equal future in a COVID-19 world,” celebrates the tremendous efforts by women and girls around the world in shaping a more equal future and recovery from the COVID-19 pandemic and highlights the gaps that remain.

Women are also at the forefront of the battle against COVID-19, as front-line and health sector workers, as scientists, doctors and caregivers. Some of the most efficient and exemplary responses to the COVID-19 pandemic were led by women. And women, especially young women, are at the forefront of diverse and inclusive movements online and on the streets for social justice, climate change and equality in all parts of the world.

This is why, this year’s International Women’s Day is a rallying cry for Generation Equality, to act for an equal future for all.

Students, teachers and staff of Sree Cauvery celebrated International Women’s Day on March 8th, 2021 in the school campus.

Ms. Kavitha P, a highly successful Chartered Accountant and a Rotary Indiranagar member, was the special guest for the day. She gave an inspiring speech to the students to have the courage, commitment and confidence to work towards what one wants to achieve in life and also to not lose focus on our culture in the whole process.  The women staffs of the school were also felicitated during the event for their contribution towards the institution.

After the assembly programme the students took part in a drawing competition with the theme “Women in leadership-Achieving an equal future in a Covid-19 world”. The Top 4  drawings of the competitions  are also displayed here.

Fun filled activities were also organised as a part of the Women’s day celebration.

International Women’s Day celebrations such as this one are not only important as an opportunity to reflect on the accomplishments of women, but also to create a connection, a spiritual network with all women around the globe through empathy, understanding, solidarity, and action.
